Description

The Revscan model IV- IP shaft speed solid state proximity sensor is an active sensing device which produces digital signals directly to the input of programmable logic controllers (PLC). As the rotating switch activator cylinder passes through the sensing face of the sensor, the sensor produces a 180° pulse per revolution (Up to 10 pulses available). The resulting signal is transmitted to the motion speed controlling system. The Revscan model IV-IP sensor is mounted in a robust cast aluminum enclosure, and due to its low mass, no support brackets are required as the unit couples directly to the end of the shaft.

Visual indication of correct wiring and operation is provided by the LED indicator which is encapsulated on top of the sensor. The LED shows that the sensor is functioning and a digital output signal is produced.

Installation Instructions

Mount the Revscan Model IV-IP on end of the shaft or bucket elevator boot pulley or other equipment shafts being monitored as follows:

  • Locate center of shaft.
  • Drill 3, 2mm (.125″) diameter pilot hole 19mm (0.75″) deep minimum.
  • Drill into shaft as straight as possible to minimize pickup head wobble. Re-drill 10, 7mm (0.422”) holeand tap 12, 7mm (0.50”) x 13 UNC thread a minimum of 19mm (0.75”) deep.
  • Should space be limited to drill / tap the shaft, install shaft adapter (optional).
  • Do not operate sensor without a load.
